About Heather
Writer · Editor · Publisher · Program & Learning Strategist · Creative Leader
I’m Heather Robinson Hernandez — a writer, editor, publisher, program and learning strategist, and creative leader whose work brings together creativity, communication, leadership, learning, and community-centered growth.
Across writing, publishing, consulting, facilitation, program design, and creative practice, I help individuals, teams, and organizations clarify ideas, strengthen communication, design meaningful experiences, and build structures that support growth, connection, and values-aligned action.
At the center of my practice is the belief that creativity is not limited to artists. Creativity is a way of thinking, learning, adapting, healing, and making meaning. It supports attention, reflection, communication, emotional intelligence, and connection with ourselves and others.
My professional background spans small business, federal service, higher education, nonprofits, arts and culture, literary publishing, workforce development, and community-based work. Across these settings, I have designed programs, learning experiences, partnerships, and reflective practices that help people and organizations move from vision to meaningful action.
I serve as Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Red River Review, a literary arts journal supporting poetry, prose, visual art, hybrid work, creative practice, and literary community. In this role, I guide editorial vision, publication strategy, contributor experience, archive stewardship, and creative development.
I am also a Colorado Creative Industries Change Leader, and my work includes program and learning design for creative placemaking, rural arts advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement initiatives. Through projects such as the Future Visions Field Guide / Space Cowboy Colorado, I have developed learning and engagement experiences that invite reflection, creativity, and public participation.
My creative practice spans creative nonfiction, poetry, essays, journalism, ecopoetics, collage, mixed media, and book arts, with recurring attention to memory, place, identity, ecology, and meaning-making. I am also a Reiki Master and healing arts practitioner, integrating mindfulness, energy-centered practices, and reflective tools that support grounding, self-awareness, restoration, and renewal.
Across all areas of my work, I am guided by one intention: to create thoughtful pathways where people can align, create, connect, and thrive.

Values, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, healing, and meaningful direction.
Create
