About Heather & Soulful Living

About Soulful Living with Heather

Soulful Living with Heather is a writing-led platform and practice that brings together creativity, reflective inquiry, and applied experience to explore intentional living, leadership, and well-being.

Rooted in the belief that clarity grows through attention and alignment, this work bridges creative practice, research, and lived experience. Through writing, teaching, facilitation, and healing-centered practices, Soulful Living offers space to slow down, reflect deeply, and engage life with greater intention.

At its core, Soulful Living with Heather is a practice-based framework shaped by decades of work in education, leadership development, and creative practice. It centers on using creativity, learning, and lived experience to shape how we live, create, lead, and relate.

This work takes shape through:

  • Creative nonfiction writing rooted in lived experience and inquiry

  • Generative creative practices including writing exercises, art-making, and guided prompts

  • Leadership and communication support through facilitation and program design

  • Healing-centered practices including Reiki, mindfulness, and grounding work

Together, these pathways support alignment—not as an abstract goal, but as an ongoing, lived practice.

The Soulful Living Framework

Soulful Living with Heather is guided by an integrated framework that brings together creativity, leadership, and well-being in service of intentional, values-centered living.

Creativity & Meaningful Expression
Creativity is a generative force for insight, clarity, and authentic communication, explored through writing, storytelling, and expressive practice.

Mindful Leadership & Emotional Intelligence
Leadership is understood as a relational practice grounded in awareness, values-centered decision-making, and thoughtful communication.

Healing-Centered Well-Being & Personal Alignment
Grounding and regulation support sustainable growth, with mindfulness and healing-centered practices fostering alignment and resilience.

Together, these pathways support intentional living, where creativity informs direction, leadership is compassionate and grounded, and well-being sustains long-term growth.

About Heather

I’m Heather Robinson Hernandez, a writer, educator, program strategist, and creative arts practitioner with more than twenty years of experience across higher education, federal service, nonprofits, and the creative sector.

At the center of my work is a belief in the power of creativity—not only as expression, but as a way of knowing, regulating, and healing. Informed by research on creativity and the brain, contemplative traditions, and lived experience, I understand creative practice as both a cognitive process and a spiritual one: a means of restoring attention, integrating experience, and reconnecting people to themselves and their values.

My professional work has focused on leadership development, communication, and workforce education, including program design and instruction at the Defense Language Institute English Language Center with U.S. and international professionals. I have also guided organizational development, succession planning, and community-based arts initiatives with the Museum of Friends.

I am a Colorado Creative Industries Change Leader, reflecting my commitment to rural arts advocacy and community-centered cultural work. I currently serve as County Manager for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) with Spark, supporting volunteer engagement, cross-sector partnerships, and community resilience across Southern Colorado.

As a writer and editor, I work across creative, nonfiction, poetry, journalism, and strategic writing genres, with a deep commitment to clarity, story, and meaning-making. My creative practice moves between poetry, mixed media, and creative nonfiction, shaping how I think, teach, and create learning spaces.

I am also a Reiki Master and healing arts practitioner, integrating mindfulness and energy-centered practices that support grounding, emotional regulation, and integration. These practices complement my consulting and educational work, supporting greater clarity, alignment, and integration across creative, personal, and professional life.

Across all of my roles, my work is guided by a consistent intention: to create space for creativity, presence, and alignment — where people can listen more deeply, engage more thoughtfully, and live with greater care for themselves and one another.
